BP Gold Project

Elko County, Nevada

The BP project is comprised of 94 claims in southwestern Elko County, Nevada. The claims cover a new, untested gold-bearing jasperoid zone. The project lies approximately 40 km northwest of Bald Mountain Gold Mine (Barrick Gold Corp.).

The area was identified during a helicopter borne prospecting program in central Nevada conducted in 2010 by Almaden Minerals Ltd. This prospecting program utilized geological models and Aster satellite imagery to target previously unrecognised Carlin-style mineralisation.

Follow up prospecting by Alianza (formerly Tarsis Resources) identified in-situ gold-bearing jasperoid breccias including one which assayed 247 ppb gold and another that assayed 191 ppb gold. Grid soil sampling returned anomalous gold assays coincident with the in-situ jasperoids. Anomalous pathfinder elements include arsenic, mercury, molybdenum, antimony and thallium. Silver values are subdued.

The surface geology at the property comprises Devonian Simonson Formation and Bay State Formation, along with Silurian/Devonian Beacon Peak Formation. Within the central part of the property, a horst-graben feature has been mapped with Mississippian Chainman Formation rocks. Webb Formation and Devil’s Gate Limestone are interpreted to underlie these rocks.

The gold bearing jasperoids occur near the edge of the horst-graben feature, within lower Simonson Formation rocks. Strongly anomalous arsenic values have been sampled within the horst-graben.

The gold occurrences appear to be associated with NW trending structures. A series of NNE trending structures have also been mapped.

Prospective horizons are currently interpreted to be the Webb Formation interface with Devil’s Gate limestone and also potentially unconformities within Simonson Formation rocks.

The project is easily accessed from paved State Highway 278 and a series of good gravel roads which provide access to the claims.
